The Labyrinth Center
DISCOVER YOURSELF THROUGH HYPNOSIS
I see hypnosis as a method to help people learn more about themselves as individuals and as souls. Once someone reaches a trance state, their subconscious mind (higher self) is open and available. You can go on a journey exploring a prior lifetime to perhaps get an understanding about the patterns you are currently experiencing in this lifetime. A Life Between Lives® journey goes beyond this physical realm to the world of spirit, a place your soul calls “home.” Please see “Hypnosis” above for further information about Past Life Regression (PLR) and Life Between Lives® (LBL).
I understand the common reaction many have to hypnosis – leery. When you are hypnotized, you are not asleep nor are you under anyone’s control. It is very much like when you’re driving a car and miss your exit because your mind was busy thinking of something else. The moment you realized you’d missed your turn is when you came out of your trance. That is the same sort of trance you would be experiencing in hypnosis. Sometimes clients go deeper into their relaxation, and at times if they come to my office tired, they may transition to sleep. If that should occur, I am able to bring that client back to the state of focused attention to continue their journey.
Please take some time and peruse this site to find out more about hypnosis and what The Labyrinth Center can offer you. Feel free to reach out with any questions or comments.

I call my office “The Labyrinth Center”. A labyrinth, unlike a maze, is a single pathway to the center. There are no dead-ends or blind alleys. It is likened to a spiritual path towards enlightenment. Walking among the pathways and turns, one loses track of direction and of the outside world, allowing for internal contemplation with a quieted mind. Using hypnosis, I am able to guide my clients along a similar path.
About Sue
I find guiding spiritual journeys particularly rewarding. My clients can bring the knowledge and lessons from the past life forward into their current life. They have an opportunity to understand how the patterns of their prior life can be reflected in their current life choices.
I was living in Wisconsin when Miracle, the white buffalo, was born in 1994. That timing coincided with my personal spiritual journey. I studied hypnosis and shortly thereafter was trained to teach hypnosis. I continued my searching by attending workshops and conferences, learning from some of the industry leaders: Dr Richard Harte, National Guild of Hypnotists; Dr Richard Schwarz, Internal Family Systems; Dr Will Horton, NLP; Dr Winifred Lucas and Henry Leo Bolduc, Past-Life Regression; Dr Irene Hickman, Remote Depossession; Mietek Wirkus, Energy Healing; Dr Stefano Benemeglio, Analogical Psychology; Dr Harvey Max Chochinov, Dignity Therapy; and Paul Aurand, Life Between Lives facilitation. Currently I am seeking certification in Quantum Consciousness methods taught by Pete Smith and will add that modality to my offerings.
During this past year I have volunteered with the Michael Newton Institute (MNI) helping to re-write the curriculum for the incoming students seeking Life Between Lives® training. I became a Career Advisor, sharing knowledge and assisting those interested in taking the LBL training and worked as a Coach for one of the students enrolled in the 2024 class.
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am certified as a hypnosis instructor by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) and as an instructor of Transpersonal Hypnotherapy and Regression Therapy by the International Association of Counselors and Therapists (IACT). I am a member of the Michael Newton Institute and a certified Life Between Lives® facilitator.

FAQs
What should I know about hypnosis?
Hypnosis as a therapeutic tool has been around for over a century. It is a common medical tool that is used to reduce pain, help people change patterns of behavior and relieve phobias. However, it is likely the least understood modality, plagued by misconceptions. It is actually easier to tell you about what hypnosis is not vs what it is.
Hypnosis is not:
You will not be put to sleep.
You will not be unconscious.
You do not surrender control over your mind nor body.
You cannot be hypnotized if you are not willing to enter trance.
Then, what is hypnosis?
It is an altered state of consciousness.
It is when you choose to experience “selective perception” or focus.
You are able to let go of / block extraneous information (noises, etc).
How does it work?
Your subconscious mind receives information and retains information without judgment. It is the seat of all memory and much can be “buried” or suppressed. Whenever your conscious mind becomes overloaded, the subconscious mind prepares us for appropriate action (usually fight / flight). The benefit of utilizing hypnosis to access your subconscious mind, is that you are able to uncover information or experiences that have been buried. It allows a non-critical understanding of events that may have triggered what now are automatic responses.
What is hypnosis helpful for?
- Many people find hypnosis is helpful for managing their weight – from gaining a perspective on your eating patterns, looking at choices you make and finding powerful reinforcing statements that help you continue on your weight management journey.
- It is helpful for changing behavioral patterns such as smoking; again finding the inner motivation and outer permissions to become a non-smoker.
- Many people utilize hypnosis to alleviate patterns of stress or anxiety. When we look at these patterns, we often find early childhood experiences that triggered the initial moment of anxiety; examining this experience while in hypnosis allows your non-critical subconscious mind to find appropriate and acceptable interventions as well as managing changing your perceptions to sensitizing events.
What are some advantages of hypnotherapy and Quantum Journeys?
Hypnotherapy allows you to access the information in your subconscious mind. To best help describe the layers of your mind, it’s rather like an iceberg. Your conscious mind is the 5-10% that is visible above the water line. Your subconscious mind is the rest — the 90-95% below the water line that cannot be seen.
The beliefs that you develop early in life are stored in the subconscious mind. They operate in the background, influencing your behaviors and your choices. The subconscious mind is also the bridge to the superconscious mind, that holds the memories of all of your lifetimes.
Accessing the subconscious mind, the superconscious mind, and the quantum realms can allow you to shift beliefs that have been with you across lifetimes.
A quantum journey is a transformative experience that goes beyond guided meditation, offering access to expanded realms of awareness and higher vibrations. It begins with setting a powerful, intentional focus tailored to your personal growth or contributions to collective consciousness. Each journey is unique but may provide profound insights, emotional or physical relief, energetic clearing, or a deeper understanding of your spiritual purpose. For more on the therapeutic benefits of these journeys, explore Quantum Consciousness: Journey Through Other Realms by Peter Smith or visit www.instituteforquantumconsciousness.com.
Quantum Journeys will be available in the Fall of 2025.
How does hypnosis go beyond traditional clinical methods?
Advances in the field of energy medicine have shown us that we carry wounds in our energetic bodies from our current as well as our previous lifetimes. PLR Hypnotherapy, LBL Hypnotherapy and Quantum Journeys (available in Fall 2025) are effective in breaking these energetic bonds and providing the opportunity to rediscover your True Self, free of wounds on the mental, physical, and spiritual levels.
How long do sessions last and how much do they cost?
A Past Life Regression session lasts about two hours and costs $300/session. Click here to learn more about PLR.
An Life Between Lives® sessions lasts between 3 – 5 hours and costs $650/session. Click here to learn more about LBL.

What if I can’t be hypnotized?
This is a very common question. All that is required for you to respond to hypnosis is an openness to the possibilities, a willingness to trust the process, an attitude of genuine curiosity and a willingness to be open to your imagination.
Highly logical people who may be skeptical are best served spending time with self-hypnosis exercises. Here are two self hypnosis recordings you can use to prepare yourself for hypnosis:
Practice Visualization Recording 1
Practice Visualization Recording 2
How does your subconscious mind communicate with you: visually, auditorily, kinestheticly or intuitively? The following recording can help identify your dominant modality.

Is hypnosis all in one's head?
“Brain Scan Suggests Otherwise” according to an article by Erica Goode appearing in the New York Times on July 30, 2016. Scientists have long argued about whether the hypnotic “trance” is a separate neurophysiological state or simply a product of a hypnotized person’s expectations.
Hypnosis has become a common medical tool, used to reduce pain, help people stop smoking and relieve phobias. Scientists have long argued about whether the hypnotic “trance” is a separate neurophysiological state or simply a product of a hypnotized person’s expectations.
A study published by Stanford researchers offers some evidence for the first explanation, finding that some parts of the brain function differently under hypnosis than during normal consciousness. The study was conducted using MRI scans. It found changes in activity in brain areas that are thought to be involved in focused attention, the monitoring and control of the body’s functioning, and the awareness and evaluation of a person’s internal and external environments. “I think we have pretty definitive evidence here that the brain is working differently when a person is in hypnosis,” said Dr. David Spiegel, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford who has studied the effectiveness of hypnosis.
While in the hypnotic state, individuals experience an intense absorption, lack of self-consciousness and varying levels of suggestibility. Dr. Spiegel said one particularly intriguing finding was that hypnotized subjects showed decreased interaction between a region deep in the brain that is active in self-reflection and daydreaming and areas of the prefrontal cortex involved in planning and executing tasks. That decreased interaction, Dr. Spiegel said, suggested an explanation for the lack of self-consciousness shown by hypnotized subjects. “That’s why the stage hypnotist can get a football coach to dance like a ballerina without feeling self-conscious about what he’s doing,” Dr. Spiegel said. He added that it might also explain, at least in part, why hypnosis is an effective tool used for getting people to look at a problem in a new way.
While some researchers argue that hypnosis is a state produced by people’s expectations, not by biology, it is evident that hypnosis is a valuable tool in facilitating change in people’s lives.
Do you offer remote sessions?
Yes, all services are available via Zoom. Zoom sessions require a Pre-Zoom consult a week to ten days prior to your scheduled appointment to discuss your intentions for the session as well as the equipment and environment where you will be located.
You must have a headset with microphone and a stable internet service. Your location needs to be free from distractions (phone, doorbell, children and pets).
Can you tell me about the International Association of Counselors and Therapists?
The IACT was founded in the early 1990’s by Steven and Jillian LaVelle, after recognizing a need for an inclusive and comprehensive association with a focus on providing a platform for those in the field of hypnotherapy and related disciplines.
The IACT continues to flourish having become a leading organization that fosters community, promotes education and advances the practice of hypnosis and related disciplines.
Can you tell me about the National Guild of Hypnotists?
The National Guild of Hypnotists was founded in 1951 and is the oldest and largest hypnosis organization of its kind. Professional membership in the NGH signifies that an individual possesses specific qualifications, agrees to abide by a strict code of ethics, and will pursue continuing education studies for annual recertification.
